It’s been a bit of a whirlwind adventure, filled with twists and turns at every corner. But everyone wants to know my next move. Read on to find out
Thanks to one of my previous posts, most people know I’ve moved on from Black AI and onto bigger things. I have accepted two new positions, both giving me an opportunity to use the multitude of skills I’ve acquired. These new jobs allow me to be an evangelist, calling on my networks, passions, experience and yes, even those uni degrees I completed. Both companies are based in Melbourne, which is super exciting. I love the entrepreneurial culture here, the startup life, the massive amount of events, and the people… so I wouldn’t want to leave it anytime soon.
Ahhhh, come on, the suspense is killing me. Just tell me already?
Alright fine, you convinced me. I broke them up into two parts below.
Jump on Board!
This one probably doesn’t come as a huge surprise. I’m a massive snowboarder, having spent some time shredding competitively. My love of mountains and the outdoors comes from my time in Albury; hiking, mountain biking, and wakeboarding (bring on summer!) What better way to combine a few of my biggest passions – snowboarding/bike riding, with my media and comms background – than being the Media & Marketing Manager for BajaBoard. Yep, that’s M5!
But it’s not all about the social media, websites, EDMs, and sales. I’ve been known to fix boards, make looms, and definitely get out for ride days and testing – I certainly will be doing more of this… I hope. Someday (in the not too distant future) events will likely become a big part of what we do at BajaBoard, bringing my Events Coordinator experience to the team.
Since this is another MAP16 team, you won’t find me too far away from my old desk at LAB-14, for the time being at any rate.
Not everyone knows it, but secretly I’m a gamer. Role Playing Games are my favs, although you can’t go past Overwatch at the moment. I even have all my gamertags under the Connect With Me page. Okay so it’s probably not THAT big a secret.
If you read my post about PAX or was following my Twitter over the weekend, you would have seen me as the Ambassador for ZEN Esports Network. Well, it wasn’t just a once off thing. I’m the face of this awesome new eSports venture!
You’ll see me at our eSports League events, promoting the brand, probably doing more media interviews, and running/hosting tournaments. Since ZEN is so new, my role isn’t clearly defined yet, but it’ll mainly be centered around flagship events.
The Queen will stay
So that’s it! I’m staying in Melbourne, and yes, before anyone jumps up and down and asks… I will still be doing hackathons, although I may have to be slightly more selective in which ones I can physically get to. But if anyone does happen to invent a time turner, please let me know. I would love to be in multiple places at once!
Well, I’ll leave it at that. I went back to the song title/lyric thing on this post, and probably will again. Oh and before I forget, if you want to get in touch with me about either of the companies above, you can send me a message on LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter. I will disclose my emails at a later date. Hope you enjoyed the read and looking forward to working with you all in my new capacities.
