Habs, the simulation video game is aiming for $3.5million
A video game is currently asking for $3.5 million on Kickstarter. The game launched either this week with “excellent feedback”.
Habs is a life simulation game. Built by Revie Studios, the game features an open world. Short for ‘inhabitants’ the aim is to “reignite the passion for life simulation games”.
Traditional features of life simulation games will be offered. Four seasons, pets, farm animals, variable timelines, multiple life stages, complex relationships, and customisations. It’s a game similar to The Sims. The game will start at US$40, with each expansion pack adding another US$20. According to Revie, the current goal is to produce five expansion packs.
Community will be a big focus in the game. Some of the current developers and founders have worked on life simulation games in the past.
The studio who’s behind Habs are looking to re-energise life sim games. They are based in Sydney and are tapping into the local resources around interactive arts and education. Sydney has a very vibrant startup culture. Let’s hope the team are tapping into that too!
The Kickstarter began this week and will conclude at the end of November. The team is looking to raise AU$3.5million. As many know, Kickstarter is a ‘all or nothing’ deal. If the funds aren’t raised, the company will not receive any money.
Simulation games have been popular in the past, particularly with The Sims. These games however have seen a decline in recent years. This is most likely due to the nature of growing esports such as Overwatch, League of Legends, CS:GO, and many others.
Revie Studios were at PAX Australia over the weekend. They spoke to many people and received some great insights into their game.
